the diwo working group recently got a brand new studio ! we are sharing it with lovely people and this summer we spent some (most of our) time to make it cozy and nice !
the idea was to have a place where we can dedicate ourselves to the important research concerning technology and togetherness, but the truth is we spend most of the time cooking meals and doing dishes. but in a good way.
On the 3rd of September we organized a studio warming to celebrate the move in. Indeed the place needed a bit of warming up, because it is situated in the old archive of the city. The main residents used to be documents and files, a kind of audience that has very different requirements from us, so called living being. Especially when it comes to sunlight, warmth and a good view outside, the municipality of Rotterdam did a great job in blocking all of those out the Archief: thick walls, small windows, low ceilings. Alla stra grande no? As a result, we call our studio Het Koelkast ("the fridge" in dutch).
To defrost the Koelkast and spicy up the studio warming, we organized a small schattenjacht, a treasure hunt, around the third floor of the Archief. Give someone something to search and they will loose their mind, but surely find everything you hid.
Fourteen drawings were concealed around: some in obvious places as a decoy, some others in more obscure and mind bending locations. The drawings were printed to try a new DRW client connected to the receipt printer we have in the studio. Send drawing from DRW and see them printed instantly: max serotonin boost.
The first participants to find them all were promised a special limited edition DIWO zine as a price. We still need to send out the prizes sorry. Or maybe you can come and collect them you know?
Here are the winners of that fierce search:
- 👑 Bart and Ema
- 💰 Ada
- 🏆 Claudio
To receive your prize be sure to come to our studio one of these days! Expiration date to retire the fantastic limited edition zine is: 1 January 2026
Find the code for the drw-to-print client on gitlab ! Ciao
