Teletile is a drawing app to configure multiple smartphones as a shared canvas.
It is one of many drawing tools made by Draw-It-With-Others (DIWO) Working Group.
It was developed in 2025 thanks to the alignment of three major events: GRAW in Rotterdam, our DIWO Italian tour, and the Athens Art Book Fair.
- We were invited to participate in the GRAW 2025 (Rotterdam Open Studio Week) at Noranje studio, so we decided to develop a new drawing tool.
- Since DIWO working group already had plans to go on world tour in Italy during that period, we decided to use said tool to DIWO EVERYDAY DURING OUR JOURNEY.
- Last but not least, we decided to print a zine of the tour diary for the Athens Art Book Fair, where we are attending as part of the Blob Shop Collective.
Each day with the people that we met (if there were any), we took some time to DIWO: to tile our phones together, to draw and write.
What you are holding is a snapshot of this process AND a log of our journey. A collection of stories that we have encountered. Shared moments of togetherness mediated by our smartphones & Teletile.
During the Teletile session and in the making of this zine, we noticed some issues such as lost drawings (then found again in the database), some not-there-yet-functions, some funky alignments of tiles, and so on. Eh. But this is also what we love about building small, situated tools.
We suggest you to actively read the seams of the phones, outline of the tiles, various styles of drawings, and inner jokes and relations being formed.
And maybe…
to try to Teletile with the others!
